What this training is

The corridor runs from Hollywood Boulevard down through Melrose, La Brea, Miracle Mile, and Larchmont, and it contains everything from long-established conservatories to single-teacher studios. Proximity matters practically: casting offices, theaters, and self-tape services cluster here too, so an evening class often sits near the rest of an actor's working week.

Who it suits

Actors living centrally or on the east side, and actors who want the widest choice within one commute. If you are new to Los Angeles and undecided, this is the area where auditing several studios in one week is realistic.

What these listings show

Counted from the verified records on this page when the site was last built, on 2026-08-15.

  • Published pricing. 20 of 26 publish enough pricing to place them in a band: $ (6), $$ (10), $$$ (3), $$$$ (1). The other 6 do not publish rates, so you have to ask.
  • Audit or trial. 8 of these 26 offer an audit or a trial class, which is the cheapest way to judge a teacher before committing.
  • Audition required. 7 require an audition or placement before you can enroll, so plan for a step before the first class.
  • Levels. 24 accept complete beginners and 23 run advanced work (92% and 88% of this list).
  • Online options. 21 of 26 offer an online format as well as in person.
  • Private coaching. 16 also offer one-to-one coaching alongside classes.
  • Young actors. 13 of these serve kids or teens as well as adults.
  • Techniques taught. Most commonly Eclectic / multi-technique (9), On-camera technique (6), Improv and sketch (5).
  • How established. 20 publish a founding year, the earliest 1929 and the most recent 2019.

How to compare them

Parking and traffic are the real variables. A class that is twenty minutes away at noon can be an hour at seven on a weeknight, and street parking around Melrose and Hollywood is genuinely difficult. Ask about parking before you commit to a weekly section, and if you can, drive the route at class time once before enrolling.
