Berg Studios teaches a repeatable, physical acting system derived from founder Gregory Berger-Sobeck's training and faculty years at the Yale School of Drama. Berg, as he is known, has taught in LA since 1998 from a studio and theater space in Atwater Village, and his private coaching clients have included Lupita Nyong'o, Riz Ahmed, and Winston Duke by the studio's account.
The curriculum has a clear ladder: the Acting Technique Intensive, open to everyone and running six classes per session, is the gateway. From there students move into Scene Study Levels 1 through 3, meeting four times a month in four-hour sessions; Level 3, taught by Berg himself, is by invitation. A four-week online Foundation series on Sundays serves remote students, along with online scene study and a teens class. Supporting classes cover voice with Tessa Auberjonois, on-camera work with actors Michael Trevino and Charles Michael Davis, Shakespeare, Alexander Technique, and movement.
The studio runs genuinely free audit events, guided intro sessions with demos and faculty Q&A, and had one scheduled for July 25, 2026 at the time of research. Tuition is not published anywhere on the site, so budget conversations happen by phone or email. Admission requires no audition; the intensive is the entry point for everyone.
