David Gray Studios in Burbank is the continuation of a NoHo institution: Gray co-founded and ran the well-known Gray Studios on Vineland Avenue, which has since closed, with the two founders now running separate schools. David Gray's Burbank studio on Hollywood Way is the in-person successor, teaching what it calls the full profession of acting rather than technique alone.
Gray's own training runs through LaGuardia High School for the Arts and study under Uta Hagen and Stella Adler in New York, with Broadway credits including A View From The Bridge. The class grid is banded tightly by age, kids 5 to 9, tweens 10 to 13, young adults 14 to 17, and adults 18 plus, across TV and film audition technique, scene study, commercial audition, voice over and animation, and improv. Classes run Sunday through Thursday in a mix of in-person, Zoom, and hybrid sections. Alumni credits cited by the studio include Nickelodeon and Disney+ series regulars.
The marquee summer offering is a 10-day Film Camp, five days writing and rehearsing then five days shooting a short film through final cut, published at $1,500 with 2026 sessions in June and July. Regular class tuition is not published, so ask when you enroll; private coaching is available in person and online.
