What this training is

Remote acting classes run over video with scenes performed to camera and notes given live. Because the medium is a frame, the format is a natural fit for on-camera technique, self-tape work, cold reading, and coaching, and a weaker fit for movement and ensemble work that needs shared physical space. Many LA studios kept online sections after running them out of necessity and now treat them as a permanent offering.

Who it suits

Actors outside Los Angeles who want access to LA teachers, working actors whose schedules break weekly attendance, and actors preparing self-tapes, since the medium and the deliverable match.

What these listings show

Counted from the verified records on this page when the site was last built, on 2026-08-15.

  • Published pricing. 45 of 65 publish enough pricing to place them in a band: $ (13), $$ (26), $$$ (3), $$$$ (3). The other 20 do not publish rates, so you have to ask.
  • Audit or trial. 25 of these 65 offer an audit or a trial class, which is the cheapest way to judge a teacher before committing.
  • Audition required. 7 require an audition or placement before you can enroll, so plan for a step before the first class.
  • Levels. 59 accept complete beginners and 59 run advanced work (91% and 91% of this list).
  • Private coaching. 45 also offer one-to-one coaching alongside classes.
  • Young actors. 34 of these serve kids or teens as well as adults.
  • Where they are. Concentrated in Hollywood and Mid-City (21), North Hollywood and Studio City (16), Burbank and Glendale (9), across 10 areas of Los Angeles in total.
  • Techniques taught. Most commonly Eclectic / multi-technique (36), On-camera technique (18), Improv and sketch (17).
  • How established. 43 publish a founding year, the earliest 1964 and the most recent 2019.

How to compare them

Ask whether the online section is taught by the same faculty as the in-person one. Ask about class size, which matters more remotely because dead time is harder to tolerate. Confirm what platform and what upload expectations apply before paying.
